Zooks
“Zooks” is an Irish nickname version of my actual name.
When I studied abroad in Ireland in my third year of university, a classmate from my Japanese university suddenly started ignoring me. After I came back to Japan, I went to a psychiatrist to get tested for ASD. They hooked me up to an EEG — and surprise, turns out I’m a hybrid: ASD + ADHD. I’m a rare subspecies of human who dislikes people that casually brag about taking an ADHD screening “just for fun”.
Currently living a semi-retired life as a freelance jack-of-all-trades. My roommate is a chinchilla 🐰
- August 2017: Moved to Estonia and began studies at Tallinn University.
- 2018: Worked at a highly exploitative company in Estonia.
- June 2019: Graduated from Tallinn University.
- June 2019–: Active at Zooks.ee.
- July 2019: Began working semi-independently as a freelancer.
- December 2019–December 2020: Hospitalised three times for four weeks each due to depression accompanied by suicidal thoughts.
- January–May 2021: Left the previous company after being asked to work during hospitalisation. Changed jobs, but was later dismissed because the after-effects of depression affected my work.
- April 2022: Promoted by management and became a team lead.
- September 2023: Experienced sexual misconduct from a lower-level employee who was nearly twice my age at the time, left the company, and became fully independent as a freelancer.
- May 2024: Started learning psychology through D-Lab to improve and enhance my quality of life and mental health.
- February 2026: Founded an Estonian company with a Japanese business partner who did not yet have e-Residency.
- March 2026: Decided not to let the person join the company after attempts were made to have me work solely for the person’s own purposes without pay.
